What is the Granite State Health and Fitness Foundation (GSHFF) Experiential Learning Challenge?
The Granite State Health and Fitness Foundation (GSHFF) Experiential Learning Challenge at Southern New Hampshire University helps build the bridge between your coursework and the real-world challenges experienced by organizations in your field.
During the GSHFF Experiential Learning Challenge, you’ll be assigned to a team and tasked with creating a new event in a specific market. You will conduct market research and complete a SWOT analysis to determine the feasibility of the event, the logistics and overall scope. This experiential learning challenge allows you to apply vital skills – like critical thinking, problem solving and teamwork – that are important to employers. You’ll also have the opportunity to network with industry professionals and peers under the mentorship of an assigned faculty.
Who can participate?
Sport management students with a 2.5+ GPA who have completed at least 60 undergraduate credits, including 3 major-specific credits. Spots are limited, so interested students are encouraged to register early.
When can you participate in the GSHFF Experiential Learning Challenge?
The GSHFF Challenge will be offered 22EW5 (starting May 2nd, 2022).
I don’t live in New Hampshire. Can I still participate?
Absolutely. This experiential learning opportunity is completed online. You’ll have to enroll in SPT-340 Practicum in Sport Management to take part in the challenge. Speak to your advisor about registering as soon as possible.
What do I get out of it?
Beyond engaging in hands-on problem solving and building relevant market research, you will have the opportunity to network with professionals in the sports recreation industry. This project is a great addition to your resume and portfolio, and could even result in professional references.
How do I put this on my resume?
SNHU Career can help you develop an effective resume that will highlight the professional skills you develop as a participant in this market research and analytics challenge.
